Automated microsite creation
Microsites are small standalone websites which share the same Public Platform instance as the client's main site. Currently clients can create microsites using a day or so of development time. In 2.6.0 we've added the ability for users to fill out a form, select some branding colours, and then have automated scripts spin up the site in seconds with no human intervention.
The generated microsite contains all the functionality found in Public Platform and is for all intents and purposes a production-ready site. Currently, sites are created using the default "Government Design System" based theme. In due course, we'll extend this so that a more generic theme can be opted for, which is better suited to creating sites that aren't primary council websites.
Automated microsite creation will first be rolled out internally. As it progresses it will become available to all users.
Other improvements
- Presently, clients can apply bulk edit or delete operations to pieces of content. In 2.6.0 clients can now apply the same operations to uploaded media files, moderated content, expired content, and locked content.
- Specific web addresses can now have their metatags overwritten. This allows users to define metatags for "special" pages, such as the News page and the Events page.
- The Media Browser's response time has been sped up using pagination.
